Ros Cole & Les Moran

Aotearoa New Zealand

During my first trip to New Zealand in 2011, thanks to my great friend Kevin Evans who organized everything perfectly, I had the joy of meeting Ros Cole, a Ranger at the New Zealand Department of Conservation (DOC).

Shortly after, due to an unforgettable storm in the Fiordland mountains where I was accompanying a DOC expedition, I was lucky enough to meet Les (Leslie) Moran, a DOC scientific advisor.

We became inseparable, and with their help, I accomplished most of my work in New Zealand. I joined them on their expeditions, living “kiwi style” with them… quite the adventures for me. In return, I introduced them to the “French touch,” showing them how to enjoy crêpes and chocolate mousse in any situation!

You’ll see many photos of them in action in this section.

Ros works with the same passion on all species: from the immense sea lion to the tiny weta, including her great love, the kakapo.

Les focuses more on reptiles (and there’s plenty to do here). During our walks, he also introduced me to unique species.
