I met Mike Boston in 2010 while preparing my second book on Costa Rica.
Locally, he’s known as the Crocodile Dundee of Costa Rica. An enthusiastic Scottish biologist, he has formed a truly special bond with these creatures, as I discovered during a nighttime excursion in the waters of Golfo Dulce on the Osa Peninsula.
Mike guided me on several expeditions in the Osa Peninsula, sharing his passion for the often misunderstood creatures: crocodiles, bats, venomous reptiles and amphibians, and even spiders! We also had unforgettable encounters in Corcovado National Park with more iconic and wild species, such as a Baird’s tapir (with whom I swam) and a puma strolling just a few meters away from us.
