Our Nature is a library of knowledge!
What do the first flying machine invented by Leonardo da Vinci in the 15th century and the new screens on our 21st-century mobile phones have in common?
Inventors have found their ideas in an immense library as vast and ancient as our planet: Nature.
Today, more than 10 million species live alongside us on land, in the air, and in the seas. We all come from 3.8 billion years of evolution.
During all this time, nature has invented, tested, and improved all sorts of ingenious ideas. The flora and fauna have adapted to almost everything… Some species have disappeared due to climatic and geological events that have changed our planet, but others have survived, adapted to new living conditions, and diversified.
Humans are the “new kids” on the block: our species only appeared 200,000 years ago.
We have a lot to learn from Nature: by drawing inspiration from her, our scientists, engineers, architects, and designers are learning from the best! All of nature’s inventions are efficient: they have been field-tested for millions of years. It’s an incredible source of inspiration to sustainably improve our transportation, housing, medicine, and technology while consuming little energy and avoiding pollution, just like nature does.
My book takes you on a journey of discovery into this fascinating world, featuring a gallery of portraits I photographed in Africa, Costa Rica, and New Zealand.
This first title in the Géniale Nature collection published in 2016 by our publishing company SABINE & SES COPAINS, with the support of the SARETEC Group.
